Tim Henman got an OBE for winning a grand total of zero majors.

Well deserved imho, hitting a ball over a net should get recognition

Dont be a silly cunt. He got it for a ten+ year career in which he almost single handedly carried the flag for British tennis and represented his country in Davis Cups and won an Olympic medal

So you think we should be giving out honours for those who took part rather than those who actually win major tournaments and inspire people?

Oh, and your single handed argument complete ignores that Greg Rusedski had a very similar career at the same time as Henman. Except Rusedski had more minor tournament victories and actually making it to a final of an Open.

She jacks in more games than she finishes, what kind of fucking service is that?

I think this was one of Prince Andrew's nominations.

The 2005 AShes team all got MBEs. It's just a populist thing to recognise something that doesn't usually happen.

She threatened to get injured if she couldn’t win the mbe

Took about 8 years to work it's way through the system then.

For services to nets - but no tennis involved.

If you're suggesting that Henman didn't inspire anyone then, as I say, you're a silly cunt - and you're also unsuccessfully disguising your self-evident disliking of him.

And let's face it... Rusedski is/was Canadian

Raducanu may turn out to be the future of British women's tennis but the jury is very much out and at this point her US Open victory looks very fucking streaky

Re: Emma Raducanu awarded mbe for having a cracking arse
she's managed to do something unprecedented in tennis. Winning a slam as a qualifier without dropping a set. A lot of people say all the 'big' players were absent but Barty;Osaka;Andreescu;Kerber and every other player in the Draw were all ranked higher, with several of them being Slam winners in their own right, Whats she done since? copped a fortune from Porsche;Tiffany;Dior and others. Just turned 20, if she stops messing about with sacking coaches and gets fit, she'll have a great career.

Re: Emma Raducanu awarded mbe for having a cracking arse
None of that is under dispute DukeofDevo. My argument isn't even that she has received a gong... I'm just taking issue with the suggestion that Henman was any less deserving.

Have a look at some of the honours handed out to journeyman sportspeople

Anyway, you're right, she may have a phenomenal career, but she may crash and burn and I suspect that the marketing heads at those multinational companies you list might be having second thoughts as to the quality of their spend and almost certainly wouldn't have signed the deals had they known how her second year on the circuit might pan out... and those aren't the reason she was honoured anyway

Always think sportsmen/women/theys shouldnt be honoured til they are at the end of their careers.
Probably doubly true of E Raducanu given she is so young.

Think P Collingwood got one of the 2005 Ashes GONGS after scoring 17 runs in the series.
Should have all given them back after the next 2006/7 series anyway.

I’m not having an argument with anybody on here, I’m just laying out some facts regarding achievements.

I’m not interested in Henman or Rusedski, Raducanu has achieved something remarkable and she doesn’t get enough credit for it. Her decline in performance during her second year is irrelevant and won’t define her.

Me either, but unlike you I dont think garnering huge commercial deals should be classified as 'achievements'
